Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom yesterday gave the assurance that
the late Tor Tiv, HRM, Orchivirigh Dr Alfred Akawe Torkula will be given
a burial befitting the status of the paramount ruler.
Governor Ortom who was speaking while inspecting work on facilities
for the burial of the Tor Tiv in Gboko, expressed satisfaction with the
efforts of the burial Central Planning Committee headed by retired
Brigadier-General John Atom Akpera.
He said arrangements had been made to provide adequate security
during the burial of the paramount ruler. The Governor said in spite of
lean available resources, the State Government would ensure that
necessary logistics are not lacking for the burial.

Brigadier-General Atom Akpera expressed optimism that preparations would
be completed before the day of the burial.
He thanked Governor Ortom for the immense support given to the committee to plan the burial.

Governor Ortom inspected the rehabilitation of the Tor Tiv Palace,
the Ijirtamen Chambers the J. S. Tarka Stadium and the royal cemetery.
