The Deputy Speaker, Benue State House of Assembly has described the
passing of the paramount ruler of the Tiv nation, His Royal Highness,
Orchivirigh (Dr.) Alfred Akawe Torkula, Tor Tiv IV as a great loss.
According to him, the late Tor Tiv’s exit came at a time when his
fatherly advice was needed to help government navigate the ship of state
through the tide of governance.
Hon Okefe however, urged people to take solace in the fact that the
Tor Tiv’s stay in this world was quite impactful and the indelible
footprints he left in the sand of time would remain a constant reminder
of the path we must follow to successfully forge ahead as a people.
The Deputy Speaker said as the Tiv nation goes into the final burial
rites, he called on all Benue sons and daughters to strive to bury all
divisive factors that are capable of destroying the Benue State and,
instead, adopt measures that would foster unity, peace and progress of
the state.
