The industrial action embarked upon on Tuesday night by oil workers across the country has been suspended.
Due to the suspension of the strike, activities have commenced at
both the Abuja headquarters of the Nigerian National Petroleum
Corporation and at all its subsidiaries in Nigeria, as well as at petrol
stations operated by the national oil firm.
The strike was suspended on Thursday morning after emergency meetings
with officials of the Federal Government on Wednesday night.
Oil workers under the aegis of the National Union of Petroleum and
Natural Gas workers and their counterparts from the Petroleum and
Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria had declared an
indefinite strike, which commenced at 12 midnight on Tuesday over issues
pertaining the restructuring of the NNPC by the Federal Government.
