Prove your transparency, declaring your assets now – Tsav challenges Ortom

Elder statesman and former Police chief, Alh Abubakar Tsav has challenged Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom to back up his theme of transparency, honest and accountability by publicly declaring his assets.

Alh Tsav who made the call in a press statement said anything short of a public declaration will amount to falsehood and urged the Governor to not just do so, but also encourage his appointees to follow suit.

” The Gov of Benue Benue State HE Dr SAMUEL ORTOM has consistently told us that he would run his government with transparency, honesty, fear of God and accountability. He repeats this with fanfare at any given opportunity at funerals, church services and social occasions. In fact, this has become his sing song always punctuated with Suswam’s name.

” As a prelude to this, I urge Gov Ortom, as a matter of urgency and importance, and to give credence to his declared Government of transparency and accountability, to publicly declare his assets and also get his political appointees to do the same.

” We can only trust and believe him if he does this.

” Anything short of this will amount to blowing hot air which tantamounts to falsehood. We are aware that the Governor who started his life as a motor Park Tout has many assets. We are not aware that he was also a farmer like late Fave Uchichi, Nomigo Andoor and Chief Denen Tofi.

” Finally I want to appeal to the IGP Mr Solomon Arase to please arrange as a matter of extreme urgency for the training of all officers newly posted as ADCs to new Governors. Some of these officers are blank, inexperienced, over excited and do not seem to know their duties and responsibilities as ADC especially the officer posted to the Gov of Benue State as ADC. It is also detrimental to security, performance and discipline for a Governor to surround himself with security agents mainly from his LGA.” read the statement.
